'INTERO' invites a form of immersion that is at once sensory and reflective, drawing the audience inward to question conscious and unconscious connections with the living world and with one’s own shadows. In this shifting space, perception is destabilised, allowing new relations between body, sound, image, and environment to emerge, beyond habitual frameworks of interpretation.
The work originates from a 3D multichannel sound project inspired by the album ‘83% Invisible’, composed by Natali Kruger and produced by the Belgian label Les Anges Noirs de l’Utopie. Following a first residency at Buda BXL, Kruger developed the interdisciplinary performance further, focusing on her research into trance states and sonosomesthesia - the relationship between sound and bodily sensation.
Within the performance, a dancer in trance opens a gateway into a nocturnal, sensory world, while the “photophore man in black” brings movement into visibility using incandescent and luminescent tools. These actions inscribe fleeting images in space, suspended between long-exposure photography and video. In constant interaction, Kruger moves through these constellated environments, navigating zones of light and shadow as sound, image, and movement continuously reshape one another.
